Dr. Raymond Berweger is a Certified Questioned Document Examiner, Court Qualified, who retired after a 35-year practice of dentistry, to follow a secret passion which had begun years before: forensic document examination. Ironically, it required the same high level of detail as in medicine and dentistry – accurately diagnosing conditions so patients could receive appropriate treatments and medications. It also demanded strict attention to space, shape, colors, and work with specialized tools in a limited area – all qualities which prepared him for the legal and forensic rigors of document examination.
Forensic document examiners (FDEs) help lawyers, law enforcement, and consumers by examining and offering written opinions on a variety of disputed document problems including: wills, deeds, medical records, income tax records, time sheets, contracts, loan agreements, election petitions, checks, and anonymous letters. Lawyers benefit from an FDEs specialized knowledge of literature in the questioned document field. This knowledge will assist lawyers and prosecutors in preparing meaningful direct examination questions for their own experts and cross-examination questions for opposing experts.
Dr. Berweger has examined questioned signatures, cut and paste, hand printing, numbers, graffiti, anonymous as well as altered documents. He is qualified to examine Questioned Documents, Disputed Documents; and other Documents, including Wills, Forgeries, Checks, Medical Records, Divorce Decrees, Deeds, Altered Documents, Obliterations, and Erasures.
